Ranchi, Oct 4: IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have tied up to collaborate for developing a start-up ecosystem in Jharkhand.
In this regard a high-level meeting between the senior office bearers of CII and the IIT ISM administration was held in which both sides decided to collaborate for developing an innovation and incubation start-up ecosystem, an official said.
Prof JK Pattanayak, Director of IIT ISM, and Ujjwal Chakraborti, Chairman of CII Jharkhand cum Managing Director of Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing and Processing Company Limited (JCAPCL) led their institutions at the meeting.
An IIT ISM official said that the two sides decided to chalk out a road map for collaboration with each other and explore possibilities for partnership between CII and IIT (ISM) in general.
“They deliberated on the possibilities for partnering on a sustainable future, skill development, and policy for governance. The participants of the meeting also laid stress for jointly promoting east-centric incubation and start-up ecosystem,” an official said.
The CII is a non-government, not-for-profit industry-led trade and industry body with around 9000 members from the private as well as public sectors.
The CII has 65 offices, 10 centres of excellence including eight abroad and works closely with government on policy issues, interfacing with thought leaders and enhancing efficiency, competitiveness and business opportunity for industry through a range of specialized services and strategic global linkages.
Ranjot Singh, Vice-Chairman, CII Jharkhand and Managing Director, Emdet Jamshedpur Pvt Ltd was also present.
IIT ISM officials present during the discussion, included Deputy Director Prof Dheeraj Kumar, Dean of Research & Development Prof Sagar Pal; Dean of Students Welfare Prof MK Singh; Dean of Media & Branding Prof Rajni Singh; Dean of International Relations and Alumni Affairs Prof RM Bhattacharjee; Prof Saumya Singh of Department of Management Studies and Registrar Prabodh Pandey.
