Dhanbad, July 28: Two students of the petroleum engineering department of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad have secured first position in their respective categories in the SPE South Asia Regional Student Paper Contest 2023.
Shadan Arif, a B Tech (petroleum engineering) 2023 pass out and Dinesh Joshi, a PhD scholar of the same department established the institution’s supremacy in the competition held at the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) Visakhapatnam.
Both of them also got a cash prize of $1000 as reward.
Giving this information, Prof Keka Ojha, head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering of IIT (ISM) said that the contest, which was held at the renowned IIPE in Visakhapatnam witnessed a competitive showcase of research papers from scholars across the South Asian region.
Dr Neetish Kumar Maurya, assistant professor, department of Petroleum Engineering, IIT (ISM) said that both the students who were rewarded a cash prize of $1000 will also get a chance to present their work at the upcoming SPE ATCE (Annual Conference & Technical Exhibition) scheduled from October 16 to October 18 in Texas, USA.
One of the contest winners Dinesh Joshi said that he felt honoured as experts of the competition recognized his paper for its technical excellence, innovative ideas and significant contributions to the field of petroleum engineering.
“In addition to the recognition, I have been awarded a prize of 1000 USD, which serves as a tremendous encouragement for my academic pursuits,” said Joshi.
“Moreover, I have been granted a complimentary travel grant to attend the Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition 2023 in Texas, USA,” Joshi added.
Joshi said that he was delighted to announce that his research paper will be published in ONEPETRO, a highly reputable and widely recognized platform for technical research papers in the petroleum engineering domain.
Another contest winner and student of IIT ISM Shadan Arif also expressed satisfaction over his achievement during the SPE South Asia Student Paper contest.
