IIT ISM team inculcates scientific temperament in rural students in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Nov 26: A team of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Management Studies Department organized a workshop in Jharkhand Awasiya Vidyalaya, a state government run school in Fatehpur Village of Purbi Tundi of Dhanbad around 30 kms away from the district headquarters on Saturday and inculcated scientific temperament among them.

Prof Rajni Singh, Dean, Media and Branding of IIT ISM said that altogether 131 students, including 127 tribal students who attended the workshop took keen interest about the technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Robotics besides renewable energy, water conservation etc explained by the IIT (ISM) experts during the workshop.

The team, led by Rashmi Singh, Assistant Professor of Management Studies Department, accompanied by Associate Professor Niladri Das, and Marghoob Enam, a research scholar apprised the students about women empowerment, critical thinking and the need for raising voice against domestic violence and physical abuse besides the ill effect of war between countries.

Prof Rashmi Singh along with the students during which she spoke about the relevance of Science in our day to day life and encouraged the rural students to take up career in science, engineering technology.

Professor Singh also apprised the gathering of rural students, gathered at the school about robotics, Internet of things and artificial intelligence through Audio Visual Clips.

Professor Niladri Das on the other hand explained about Sustainable Development, Plastic Recycling, Rain Water Harvesting, Water Conservation, Alternative Source of Energy etc.

Professor Das during his interaction with the students made them aware about bacteria and viruses including the useful bacteria and also about infections caused due to harmful bacteria and viruses.

Professor Das also apprised the students about the devastating effects of war. Its economic fallouts to the students which discussing about the Russia Ukraine War.

Marghoob Enam on the other hand gave a detailed account of the solar system and various celestial bodies.
