Dhanbad, Aug 4: Three years MBA course launched by the IIT Indian School of Mines (IMA) Dhanbad has become a hot cake for working executives as enquiries have been pouring in for admission from various quarters.

Giving this information to media persons, IIT ISM officiating director Prof JK Pattanayak said that the course content has been planned in such a way that it covers all the topics related to marketing, entrepreneurship, and management which attracts working executives.

“We are also in touch with some of the alumni of the executive MBA program, who have benefitted after completing the course previously and they have welcomed the re-launching of the course at IIT ISM,” said Prof Pattanayak. He further added that the fee of the course is much cheaper compared to the fee of other prominent institutes.

IIT ISM launched an MBA course in 2012 but it was shut down in 2018 due to a lack of faculty. This year, the  institution has again launched this attractive programme.

“We have fixed the classes schedule for the course on Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. as per the convenience of the working executives so that they could maintain a balance between work schedule and academic career,” said Prof Pattanayak.

Prof Bibhas Chandra, HoD, Management Studies & Industrial Engineering said that the tremendous response to the course, which has been launched this year, is also due to the strong alumni base of our department across the country.

“We have developed the syllabus of the course after taking into account of various factors, including the requirement of working professionals and will include new topics as per the demand of the time,” he said.

Prof Rajni Singh, dean (Media & Branding) who chaired the meeting held today also gave a brief account of the launching of course first in 2012. Prof Sandeep Mondal, course coordinator, Prof Niladri Das and Prof Preeti Roy also briefed the media about various aspects of the course.
