Illegal sawmill busted in Hazaribag, timber seized

Hazaribag, Feb19: A joint team of the forest department and Keredari police raided an illegal sawmill on Sunday recovering timber in huge quantities. The raid was carried out in Neeri village under Salga panchayat in Keredari block. Efforts on to identify those who are behind this illegal business.

Officials said on a tip-off, the joint team carried out the raid getting big success. The recovered timber included expensive logs of sakhuwa trees. Assistant conservator of forest, A K Parmar said they are probing further to know as who was operating the sawmill.

Recovered timber brought to forest office in Barkagaon. Forest officials said they are regularly carrying out raids to put a check on such illegal activities.

Other than Parmar, the team comprises Keredari police station officer-in-charge Sadhan Chand Gorai and others.
