Jamshedpur, Sept 18: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rainfall activity over Jharkhand for the next two days.

The light rain is likely to be accompanied by lightning and thunder in some places.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Jaisalmer, centre of Low-Pressure Area over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh, Sagar Island, Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.

Light to moderate rain was observed at a few places over the state during the past 24 hours.

Monsoon activity was weak over the state in the past 24 hours, said weathermen.

Notably, monsoon activity was not up to the mark in Jharkhand this year which had so far resulted in a rain deficit of 34 per cent.

Except for Sahibganj which shows 2% surplus rain, all the other 23 districts were figuring in the rain losers list.

According to statistics, against a normal of  935 mm, the state has so far received 621 mm of rain resulting in such a huge rain deficit.
