Jamshedpur, July 22: Most places across Jharkhand are expected to witness light to moderate rain today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
According to weathermen, the monsoon trough at mean sea was currently passing through Ganganagar, Rohtak, Hardoi, Dehri, Jamshedpur, Balasore and thence east-southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.
A cyclonic circulation originating from the Bay of Bengal was hovering over Jharkhand extending up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level tilting
southwards with height.
According to rain statistics, Jharkhand was still facing a rain deficit of 51 per cent due to a subdued monsoon this year.
So far Jharkhand has received 199.3 mm of rain against a normal of 403.4 mm, a deficit of 51 per cent.
Weathermen said unless the state experiences heavy and widespread rain it will be difficult to make up for the rain loss in July, the second monsoon month.
In absence of proper monsoon rain, most districts across the state were witnessing day’s readings two to three notches above the normal.
