Jamshedpur, May 12:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of a partly cloudy sky and dry weather in Jharkhand today.

Weathermen, however, ruled out the possibility of rain and said that light rain and thunderstorm activity is expected around mid-May.

No significant synoptic system prevailed over the state on Friday as the day’s reading witnessed a rising trend.

Satellite pictures suggested that cyclonic storm “Mocha” pronounced as “Mokha” over the southeast Bay of Bengal moved further northwestwards with a speed of 8 kmph.

Meteorological data suggested that dry weather prevailed over the state during the past 24- hours.

The highest maximum temperature of  43.6°C was recorded at Godda while the lowest minimum temperature of 20°C was recorded at Garhwa.

Jamshedpur boiled at 43°C while Daltonganj, the Palamau headquarters sweated at 42°C.

Statistics indicated that most places across Jharkhand recorded over 40 °C during the past 24- hours.
