Jamshedpur, March 17:  The IMD forecast has brought some respite.

Though several places in Kolhan, Santhal Pargana and Palamu were experiencing above 48 degree Celsius for the second consecutive day today, IMD Ranchi Met Centre’s forecast this afternoon brought some respite for Holi revellers.

Weathermen said that a few isolated pockets might witness cloud formation on Saturday, March 19 due to formation of a  trough line  extending between Gangetic West Bengal to Telangana across Jharkhand, interior Odisha and south Chhattisgarh at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Weathermen, however, ruled out possibility of rain.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre at the same time also issued an alert of moderate heat wave in isolate pockets of including Kolhan and Palamu region where day’s reading has touched 38 degree Celsius, three notches above normal.

“We are expecting moderate heat wave condition in some parts of the state including Kolhan and Palamu region after the next 24 hours. Several places in Kolhan and Palamu including Jamshedpur , Chaibasa in West Singhbhum and Daltonganj has touched 38 degree Celsius. The day’s reading is witnessing an upward trend due to dominating easterly wind and absence of rain, ” explained Abhishek Anand, head of Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Met data revealed that several places in Santhal Pargana region including Godda,  Garhwa and  Giridih also recorded around 38 degree Celsius for the second consecutive day on Thursday.

The maximum reading in Ranchi, which enjoys altitude advantage and several other places in central Jharkhand too recorded over 35 degree Celsius for the second consecutive day today.

Today’s day temperature in Ranchi and its adjoining areas was three notches above normal.

Meanwhile, along with rising heat power also played truant on Thursday  in several areas in Kokhan serviced by Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited ( JBVNL ).

Residents of several localities including Mango and Jugsalai in steel city complained of frequent power cuts and prolonged loadsheddings.

JBVNL officials said the impending power crisis was due to short supply from Ranchi’s state load despatch centre.
