Jamshedpur, Aug 5: India Meteorological Department’s Ranchi weather office issued an alert of thunder and lightning in isolated pockets of the state today.
Weathermen said today’s satellite pictures and wind chart analysis suggested light to moderate rain over Jharkhand.
State capital Ranchi is likely to witness one or two spells of rain or thundershowers today.
The weather office also issued a warning of heaving rain in southern Jharkhand this weekend.
A senior Met official at Ranchi Met Centre also hinted at the formation of a low-pressure area over northwest and west-central Jharkhand around August 7 ( Sunday ).
Meanwhile, rain statistics indicated a slight fall in rain deficit per cent during the past 24 hours due to a good spell of rain in northern Jharkhand.
Against a normal of 549 mm, Jharkhand has so far received 297 mm, a deficit of 46 per cent.
According to rain figures, the deficit stood at 48 per cent yesterday.
