Lucknow, Feb 24: A three-match T20I series will be followed by a two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka. The series begins with the first T20I at Lucknow on Thursday.
India is the top-ranked side in the ICC T20I rankings going into the series, while Sri Lanka is placed ninth.
Under Rohit Sharma, India had swept the West Indies in ODIs and T20Is before to the series. Sri Lanka, on the other side, was defeated 4-1 by Australia in a T20I series. Both teams have injury worries, but India appears to be the more powerful team given their resources.
Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar have been ruled out of the series for India owing to injury. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been rested, while India’s finest all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is back from injury and have been recalled along with Jasprit Bumrah.
Sanju Samson has been given another chance to demonstrate his international credentials. With so many possibilities, the management needs be precise in selecting the players they want to field in the first T20I.
