Bangkok, May 11: After two consecutive victories, Team India was defeated 5-0 by South Korea in their final group match of the Uber Cup 2022 in Bangkok on Wednesday.
World no. 7, PV Sindhu won the Group D match. Sindhu was a victim of An Se-young, who utterly dominated her in both games. Sindhu lost her match by a score of 15-21, 14-21 in a 42-minute encounter.
In the second match, Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan beat Shruti Mishra and Simran Singhi 13-21, 12-21 in a 39-minute contest. In the third match, he faced Kim Ga-Eun and was defeated 10-21, 10-21. Then, in a 36-minute match, Tanisha Crasto and Treesa Jolly were defeated by Kim Hye-jeong and Kong Hee-yong, 14-21, 11-21.
Ashmita Chaliha faced Sim Yu-jin in the final round, but India’s losing trend continued as she lost 18-21, 17-21.
Notably, team India had previously triumphed comfortably against Canada and the United States, securing a spot in the Uber Cup 2022 quarterfinals.
