An Indigenous Drug is likely to be available in the market which could cure mild COVID cases as it has shown potential to turn RT-PCR negative of the mildly infected persons within 72-90 hours. The drug is in phase 1 of Human trials and has shown the potential to be effective in mild COVID cases. The trials will be completed by the end of this month.iSera  Biological, a four-year-old company located in Kolhapur, Maharashtra with help of Serum Institute has developed and started trials of drug. The above mentioned Bioscience Company is already engaged in production of Antiserum products for Snakebites, Rabies and Diphtheria.

“As of now, it does look like a promising drug. The principles on which it is based are well-established. We will have to wait for the results of human trials. If found effective, it will be a very suitable drug, especially for a country like India. I think this would be a very affordable drug , compared to a few similar international products that are available, ”Prof N K Ganguly, a former director-general of the Indian Council of Medical Research, said. The cocktail is competent enough to remove all extragenous chemicals. It appears to be affordable as compared to other available drugs.

“The process is similar to giving a vaccine. Horses are injected with specific antigens so that they can develop the antibodies. The antibodies are the same as the ones the human body makes to fight the COVID-19 virus. The antibodies are harvested from the horses and then put through a very high quality purification process , so that the end product is at least 95 percent pure antibodies, ”Kadam said  The cocktail appears to have more potential than plasma treatment which was a cumbersome process as the plasma extracted from recovered persons differs from person to person .

The most important is that the DRUG is likely to work against existing and new mutations which are likely to develop in new futures. The company is planning for combined phase 2 and phase 3 trials in September and October, and if trials are successful the final drug can be available by end of this year. If it happens that we can provide cheaper Indigenous drugs we are approaching rightly towards our PM Modi ideology of becoming a reformer and teacher to the entire world commonly known as “Vishwa Guru” as we could pave ways for other countries to develop cheap indigenous potential COVID drugs.
