Visakhapatnam, March 19: India’s ODI total against Australia on Sunday was their lowest ever at home. Having been given the opportunity to bat first at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the Men in Blue were bowled out for 117 in 26 overs.

Before to this, India’s lowest ODI total at home against Australia was 148, recorded in Vadodara back in 2007. Moreover, it was India’s third-lowest score in one-day internationals against Australia, after only 63 in Sydney in 1981 and 100 in Sydney (2000).

With scores of 8-1-53-5, Mitchell Starc recorded his eleventh five-wicket haul in a Test match. He took the vital wickets of KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rohit Sharma before dismissing Mohammed Siraj to end the Indian innings.

Starc actually claimed the first four dismissals of the innings, assisting Australia in bringing India’s total down to 48 for the loss of four wickets in 8.4 overs. Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis joined in after Starc made early inroads into the home team’s batting set.

Ellis eliminated Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, two of the Indian batsmen who reached double digits, while Abbott claimed three wickets. After scoring 31 runs off of 35 balls with four fours before Ellis caught him in front, Kohli was India’s leading run scorer.

Axar Patel maintained his undefeated status at 29 at a run-a-ball to ensure that India managed to surpass the 100-run threshold. Shami, Siraj, Gill, Suryakumar, and failed to open their accounts. Only two Australian bowlersAdam Zampa and Cameron Green were unable to secure a wicket.
