New Delhi, Nov.5: The Union ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported that India recorded 12,729 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 221 related fatalities on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 34,333,754 and the death toll to 459,873.
Meanwhile, the active caseload stood at 148,922, up 343 cases from the previous day’s total of 148,579 cases.
The health ministry announced on Thursday that the active caseload has dropped to its lowest level in 253 days. “Active cases account for less than 1% of overall cases, with 0.43 percent presently being the lowest since March 2020,” the ministry stated in a statement.
Furthermore, with 12,165 individuals discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, daily recoveries remained below daily new infections. The overall number of recoveries reached 33,724,959, with a recovery percentage of 98.23%, according to the data.
On November 4, 670,847 samples were tested for the condition, bringing the total number of samples examined in India to 613,017,614 thus far, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.
At 8 a.m., the ministry’s Covid-19 dashboard showed that 1,077,046,116 doses had been administered to eligible recipients across the country. Since Thursday, there has been an increase of 565,276 doses.
