New Delhi, Oct.18: According to the latest Covid-19 bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Monday, India reported 13,596 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 230 days.
It was 3.9 percent lower than the previous day’s figure in the country. In India, the total number of cases is presently 3,40,81,315.
Kerala had the most cases with 7,555, followed by Maharashtra with 1,715, Tamil Nadu with 1,218 cases, West Bengal with 624 cases, and Odisha with 443.
These five states accounted for 84.99 percent of new cases, with Kerala accounting for 55.57 percent.
In the last 24 hours, at least 166 people have died as a result of the pandemic, bringing the total death toll to 4,52,290.
Kerala had the most casualties, with 74 deaths per day, followed by Maharashtra with 29 daily deaths.
Active cases have decreased by 6,152 in the last 24 hours, bringing India’s active caseload to 1,89,694, the lowest in 221 days. For the past 115 days, the weekly positivity rate has been 1.37 percent, which is less than 3 percent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 12,05,162 doses have been provided, bringing the total to 97,79,47,783.
A total of 9,89,493 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
