New Delhi, Aug 21: India registered 11,539 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing its total to 4,43,39,429, while the number of active cases decreased to 99,879 from Saturday, according to data from the Union health ministry.
The data updated at 8 am showed that the number of people affected by COVID-19 increased to 5,27,332 with 34 fatalities, including nine deaths that Kerala reconciled.
According to the ministry, the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.59%, and the active cases make up 0.23% of all infections. The weekly positivity rate was 3.88 percent and the daily positivity rate was 3.75 percent.
Meanwhile, 4,37,12,218 people have recovered from the illness, bringing the case mortality rate down to 1.19 percent, according to the report.
The nationwide vaccination campaign has thus far provided 209.67 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, it added.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 total had reached 20 lakh, on August 23, it reached 30 lakh, on September 5 it reached 40 lakh, and on September 16 it reached 50 lakh. It exceeded the 60 lakh threshold on September 28, the 70 lakh threshold on October 11, the 80 lakh threshold on October 29, the 90 lakh threshold on November 20, and the 1 crore threshold on December 19.
Two crores were reached in India on May 4, three crores on June 23, and four crores on January 25 of this year.
