New Delhi, Aug 1: According to data released on Monday by the Union Health Ministry, India added 16,464 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,40,36,275, while the number of active cases grew to 1,43,989 cases.
24 more fatalities brought the total number of deaths to 5,26,396 according to data updated at 8 am.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.48%, according to the health ministry, and the active cases make up 0.33 percent of all infections.
In the past 24 hours, there has been an increase of 313 cases in the active COVID-19 caseload. According to the health ministry, the weekly positivity rate was 4.80 percent and the daily positivity rate was 6.01 percent.
4,33,65,890 persons have recovered from the illness, and the case fatality rate has been reported at 1.20 percent.
The government reports that as of today, 204.34 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been distributed around the nation as part of the COVID-19 vaccination push.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 total had reached 20 lakh, on August 23, it reached 30 lakh, on September 5 it reached 40 lakh, and on September 16 it reached 50 lakh.
It exceeded the 60 lakh threshold on September 28, the 70 lakh threshold on October 11, the 80 lakh threshold on October 29, the 90 lakh threshold on November 20, and the 1 crore threshold on December 19.
Two crores were reached in India on May 4, three crores on June 23, and four crores on January 25 of this year.
The 24 deaths include seven from West Bengal, three from Maharashtra, two each from Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, and Haryana, as well as one from each of Assam, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, and Sikkim.
