New Delhi, Dec.16: India has recorded 7,974 new instances of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours,, with 343 deaths as a result of the infection. According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday, the country had a total of 7,948 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to roughly 98.38%, the highest since March 2020, and total recoveries to 3,41,54,879.
According to government data released today, the overall number of active COVID-19 cases in India has decreased to 87,245.
So now, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has administered about 135.25 crore vaccine doses.
The country’s total death toll today stands at 4, 76,478. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020.
Up till December 15, 66,02,47,762 samples had been examined for COVID-19, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). On Wednesday, 12,16,011 of these samples were examined.
Meanwhile, Kerala recorded 4,006 new infections and 282 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to 51,92,593 and the death toll to 43,626. According to a state government release, 125 of the 282 deaths were reported in the previous few days, and 157 were labelled as COVID-19 deaths after accepting appeals based on the Centre’s new rules and the Supreme Court’s directives.
Since Tuesday, 3,898 additional persons have recovered from the virus, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 51,24,899 and the number of active cases to 35,234, according to the report. In the previous 24 hours, 65,704 samples have been examined.
Among the 14 districts, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest with 830 fresh cases, followed by Ernakulam (598) and Kozhikode (372). Of the new cases, 35 were health workers, 14 from outside the State and 3,750 infected through contact with the source of it not being clear in 207.
