New Delhi, Dec.4: India has recorded 8,603 new Covid-19 cases in the previous 24 hours according to a health ministry bulletin issued on Saturday.

In the last 24 hours, at least 8,190 people have recovered, bringing the total number of persons recovered to 3,40,53,856. Currently, the recovery rate stands at 98.35%.

The active caseload in India is now at 99,974. Active cases make up less than 1% of total cases, with 0.29 percent now active. The number of active cases is likewise at its lowest level since March 2020.

For the past 61 days, the daily positivity rate (0.69%) has been less than 2%. For the last 20 days, the weekly positivity rate (0.81%) has been less than 1%.

In total, 64.60 crore Covid-19 tests have been done in India.

On the vaccination front, a statewide vaccination effort has resulted in the administration of 126.53 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

The date of a meeting on the booster dosage of Covid-19 vaccine, according to sources in the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), has yet to be set. However, according to the latest news from the WHO SAGE meeting, the group is looking at worldwide evidence for a third shot in response to the Omicron threat.

In view of the Omicron instances in India, there will need to be new conversations about children’s vaccination and booster regimens.
