Washington, March 22: India has been somewhat hesitant on the Western sanctions imposed in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to US President Joe Biden.

“…The Quad is, with the possible exception of India being somewhat shaky on some of this, but Japan has been extremely strong — so has Australia — in terms of dealing with Putin`s aggression,” speaking at the Business Roundtable`s CEO Quarterly Meeting on Monday, referring to how unified Washington allies have been in isolating President Putin, Biden stated.

Putin did not predict how united NATO and western allies would be in a global response to his invasion of Ukraine, according to Biden. Leaders from Australia, Japan, and the United States blasted Russia’s invasion at a virtual Quad meeting earlier this month.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the other hand, emphasised the importance of returning to a road of discussion and diplomacy.

The only QUAD member who has not criticised Russia’s invasion is India. With the exception of India, all QUAD members have imposed major restrictions on Russia. India has voted no in critical UN votes on the issue, instead asking for a instant end of violence and a return to dialogue.
