New Delhi, Mar 5: India and Sri Lanka players paid tribute to the game’s icons Shane Warne and Rodney Marsh before the start of Day 2 of the ongoing first Test in Mohali. The players held a minute of silence prior to the start of play and wore black armbands.
Rodney Marsh and Shane Warne, former Australia cricketers who died on Friday at the ages of 74 and 52, respectively, drew a flood of tributes.
While Warne died of a ‘suspected heart attack,’ Marsh passed away after a protracted battle with illness.
“A minute’s silence was observed before the start of play on Day 2 of the first Test for Rodney Marsh and Shane Warne who passed away yesterday. The Indian Cricket Team will also be wearing black armbands today,” BCCI wrote on Twitter.
After deciding to bat on Day 1, India was 357/6 at stumps.
