Chennai: India and Zimbabwe will face off in a crucial Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. The toss will take place at 6:30 pm, with the match scheduled to begin at 7 pm. The contest is a must-win encounter, as the losing side will be knocked out of the semifinal race.
Do-or-Die Battle for Semifinal Spot
Led by Suryakumar Yadav, Team India must secure a victory to remain in contention for the semifinals. Both teams entered this stage after losing their opening Super 8 matches, making this clash decisive for survival in the tournament. India suffered a 76-run defeat against South Africa, while Zimbabwe was beaten by West Indies by 107 runs.
Indian batters have not delivered as expected so far in the Super 8 stage, but the team will look to bounce back strongly against Zimbabwe. Special arrangements have reportedly been made at the Chennai venue to counter the effects of dew during the evening match.

In the T20 format, India and Zimbabwe have played 13 matches so far, with India winning 10 and Zimbabwe claiming 3 victories. The two sides previously met in the T20 World Cup in 2022, where India secured a win riding on an unbeaten half-century from Suryakumar Yadav.
Earlier in the day, another Super 8 Group 1 fixture between South Africa and West Indies is scheduled for 3 pm, adding to the high-stakes action.
