New Delhi, Jan 20: The Indian Army has requested assistance from China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to locate missing youngster Miram Taron on their side and return him according to the protocol.
Reportedly, the PLA abducted a 17-year-old teenager from inside Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district, according to Tapir Gao, the state’s MP.
According to sources in the defence establishment, when the Indian Army learned of Taron’s whereabouts, it promptly called the PLA via a pre-established hotline, notifying them that an individual who was collecting herbs and hunting had lost his way and could not be traced. PLA assistance has been requested in locating the man on their side and returning him in accordance with the law.
According to Gao, the incident occurred near the point where the Tsangpo River joins India in Arunachal Pradesh. In Arunachal Pradesh, Tsangpo is known as Siang, and in Assam, it is known as Brahmaputra.
The MP also stated that he informed Union Minister of State for Home Nisith Pramanik of the occurrence and demanded that he take appropriate action.
Earlier in September 2020, the PLA kidnapped five youngsters from Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district and released them after a week.
The recent incident occurred as the Indian Army has been locked in a standoff with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in eastern Ladakh since April 2020.
The stalemate has been resolved after 14 rounds of military discussions between India and China. However, in eastern Ladakh, the disengagement process has yet to be completed in the areas of Hot Springs, Depsang bulge, and Demchok. Along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, each side has between 50,000 and 60,000 troops.
From Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh, India and China share a 3,400-kilometer-long land border.
