New Delhi, Sept 2: Laxman Narasimhan, an engineering graduate from Pune University, has been named the next CEO of coffee giant Starbucks, joining a long list of Indian-origin corporates who are excelling in top leadership roles across industries globally, particularly in the US.
Narasimhan has been chosen to serve as the next CEO of the Starbucks Coffee Company, a well-known coffee chain with 34,000 locations around the world and a five-decade history. This company is the leading roaster and retailer of specialty coffee.
After moving from London to Seattle, Narasimhan is scheduled to start working for the coffee company as the incoming CEO on October 1. He will collaborate closely with interim CEO Howard Schultz until he takes over and joins the Board on April 1, 2023.
Narasimhan, the recently appointed CEO, has nearly 30 years of expertise managing and consulting international consumer-facing brands. He most recently held the position of chief executive officer of Reckitt, a multinational consumer health, hygiene, and nutrition company that is listed on the FTSE-12, where he oversaw the firm’s significant strategic turnaround and return to sustainable growth.
Before joining PepsiCo, Narasimhan, a mechanical engineering graduate, held a number of executive positions there, including global chief commercial officer, where he was in charge of the company’s long-term strategy and digital capabilities.
