New Delhi, Aug 28: Star batsman Virat Kohli when takes the field for a thrilling match against Pakistan at Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday, he will play for India for the 100th time in T20I format, making history by becoming the first Indian to play a century of games across all formats of the sport. Members of the Indian cricket team have expressed their support for Kohli.

Virat’s enthusiasm and love for the game, according to captain Rohit Sharma, are unrivalled.

“Every time you see him, he comes with a different energy all the time. It is not easy to play 100 games for India across formats. I would like to congratulate him. Every time we see him, his game seems to be on a different level,” said Rohit Sharma on Star Sports.

The captain hoped that the top hitter would perform at his peak throughout the competition. Virat, according to KL Rahul, was instrumental in bringing the young Indian team to where it is today.

His colleague on the under-19 squad that won the 2008 World Cup, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, claimed that Virat’s commitment to hard work and desire for runs are still present today.

Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar stated that Virat’s approach to the game, more than his ability to score runs, will be remembered.

It is incredible, according to Rishabh Pant, that Virat has played in 100 T20Is and 400–500 international cricket matches.

“It is his legacy that he has won so many matches for India. His career inspires people, that their life would be better if they do anything close to what he has done,” he added.

He has been one of India’s most dependable batsmen in the shortest version of the game ever since making his T20I debut against Zimbabwe back in 2010 and has great figures and some records to his name.

With an unbeaten 26 off 21 balls in his first T20I game, Virat helped India win the contest by six wickets with a 64-run stand. His reputation in international cricket has significantly increased since then.

Since that time, he has played 99 T20I matches for India, totaling 3,308 runs at an average of 50.12. The score of 94* is Virat’s personal best in this format. In this format, he had a strike rate of 137.66. He has hit 30 half-centuries in this style, but he hasn’t yet reached a century.

He is his country’s second-highest run scorer and the third-highest run scorer in T20I cricket, behind only Martin Guptill of New Zealand and Rohit Sharma (3,487). With 30, Virat ranks second among T20I players in fifty-plus scores. Rohit Sharma, his captain, comes in first with 31 fifty-plus runs and four hundreds.

Notably, India will start its Asia Cup campaign against Pakistan today.
