New Delhi, Jan 10: India’s Covid-19 tally has been surging rapidly for the last few days.
In the last 24 hours, India has registered 1,79,723 new cases of the novel coronavirus, including 146 deaths as a result of the infection.
The active case tally has reached 7,23,619, according to figures released by the Union Health Ministry on Monday (January 10). The daily positivity rate is currently at 13.29 percent.
In addition, the total number of Omicron instances has now reached 4,033.
With the current rate of surge in cases, India will soon cross the 2-lakh mark.
Due to an increase in coronavirus cases in the country, health and frontline workers, as well as senior persons with comorbidities, will receive precautionary third doses of Covid-19 vaccine starting today.
Many doctors and healthcare workers have contracted Covid as a result of the Omicron-driven epidemic. Several states, including Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Bengal, have enforced night and weekend curfews to prevent the spread of the disease.
