New Delhi, Nov 8: Air Marshal Dr Padma Bandopadhyay along with Actor Kangana Ranaut and singer Adnan Sami were honoured with Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award on Monday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Notably, Bandopadhyay was the first woman to be promoted to the level of Air Marshal in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Kangana has already received four National Awards.
President Ram Nath Kovind is presenting the awards in the Rashtrapati Bhawan. As many as 119 Padma Awards will be presented by President Ram Nath Kovind. The list comprises seven Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar among others were also present on the occasion.
Notably, Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honours of India announced annually on the eve of Republic Day.
