New Delhi, June 3: Tata Projects, the infrastructure and construction arm of the Tata Group, has bagged the contract to build the forthcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Tata Projects will develop the airport’s terminal, runway, airside infrastructure, roads, utilities, landside amenities, and other ancillary buildings, according to a statement released today by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL).
Zurich Airport International AG was awarded the contract to develop the airport in 2019. On October 7, 2020, the Uttar Pradesh government signed a concession deal with Yamuna International Airport Private Limited to begin construction of the Noida International Airport.
When completed, Noida International Airport would be India’s largest airport.
The 1,334-hectare greenfield facility would open with a single runway in the first phase, with a capacity of 12 million passengers per year at a cost of Rs 5,700 crore.
Yamuna International Airport Private Limited was formed as a Special Purpose Vehicle to create Noida International Airport and is a 100 percent subsidiary of Swiss developer Zurich Airport International AG.
According to the developer, the new airport should be operational by 2024. With the completion of the EPC contract, the first phase of the airport is expected to be completed within three years of the concession period beginning, according to YIAPL.
According to him, the company is working with Tata Projects to build a passenger terminal, runway, and other airport infrastructure with a capacity of 12 million passengers per year by 2024.
