New Delhi, Jan 1: The data issued on Saturday by the Union Ministry of Family and Health Affairs showed that India’s Omicron case count has risen to 1,431. According to the authorities, the fast-spreading virus variety has spread to 23 states across the country.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, India noticed a dramatic increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, 22,775 new Covid-19 cases were registered across the country, the greatest number in 275 days. With the addition of these new cases, the total caseload now stands at 3,48,61,579.
The Covid-19 tally on Saturday was 35.9% higher than the Union health ministry’s Friday report.
India had reported 22,842 incidents as of October 3 (275 days ago). Following that, approximately 22,700 cases were reported across the country on Saturday.
Meanwhile, 406 people have died as a result of the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of persons who have died to 4,81,486. Kerala had the most casualties (353), followed by Tamil Nadu, which had 11 daily deaths.
Maharashtra leads the way with 8,067 cases, followed by West Bengal with 3,451 cases, Kerala with 2,676 cases, Delhi with 1,796 cases, and Tamil Nadu with 1,155.
These five states account for 75.28 percent of all new cases, with Maharashtra alone accounting for 35.42 percent of all new cases.
In addition, the number of active cases in India grew by 13,420 in the last 24 hours. The country’s active caseload today stands at 1,04,781.
Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate increased to 98.32% in the last 24 hours, with a total of 8,949 patients recovering.
