Jamshedpur, Dec 19: A 22-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging at Adityapur Guest House under the Adityapur thana area on the intervening night of Monday.

Though the body was identified immediately after it was noticed by some fellow inmates, the reason behind the suicide is yet to be known. The deceased was identified as Nutan Napit, a resident of Manoharpur block in West Singhbhum and would work in an industrial unit near Usha Mode in Gamharia by staying at a rented accommodation in Gamharia.

The Adityapur thana OC Rajan Kumar said the deceased must have entered into one of the rooms in the guest house which is a private business establishment when there was no one around.

“The room in question was bolted from inside and the suicide matter came to the fore as one of the inmates peeped through the window. We have recovered the body by breaking open the door in presence of local residents but sealed up the room again until the family members of the deceased do not turn up, ” said the OC while talking to this correspondent.

Kumar said it to be a case of suicide only as the door was bolted from the inside but the reason behind the drastic step by the industrial worker inside a private guest house room needs proper investigation which they would carry out after taking a statement from the family members concerned.

The act of committing suicide, especially by youngsters is on the rise at Adityapur. Within the past fortnight, about 10 persons mostly youngsters have committed suicide in Adityapur and the adjoining Gamharia thanas area.
