Daltonganj, Feb 17: Internet services of all types and of all service providers continue to remain temporarily shut in Palamu and are not likely to be revoked before February 19 due to a dispute between two communities in Panki on Wednesday morning.

Sources said the principal secretary of Home Rajeev Arun Ekka had in his order dated February 15 declared a ‘temporary suspension of internet services of all types and of all service providers in the district of Palamu till February 16, 4 pm in the evening in the interest of public emergency and public safety.’

According to the Sadar SDO Rajesh Kumar Sah, Palamu DC Anjaneyulu Dodde sent a request cum recommendation letter to the Home department urging for the extension of the temporary suspension of internet services of all types and of all service providers in Palamu district till early morning of February 19.

Sources said the expediency to extend the temporary suspension of internet services arose because of the Friday prayer and Saturday’s Maha Shivratri Puja.

Meanwhile, the suspension of internet services has affected form filling for the PhD entrance test of the Nilamber Pitamber university which is February 22, its last date.

The candidates from other places are finding it too hard to make an online application for this test which is going to take place after five years. The PhD entrance test is for 14 subjects barring Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sociology and Geology.

The Registrar of the NP university, Dr Rakesh Kumar, when asked about the dislocation in filing an online application for the PhD entrance test said, “We are looking into it. Extension of the last date for filing for the application for the PhD entrance test which is February 22 is no big issue but we will be coming out of the university’s stand on it either on February 21 or 22 itself.”
