Delhi Capitals will face Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday in the second qualifier match of IPL 2021 season. The winning team of this match will take on Chennai in the final match to be held on October 15. While Delhi’s team is the finalist of the last season, Kolkata team is performing well in Phase 2. They won 6 out of 8 matches. In the clash with Delhi on 28 September, KKR won by three wickets.
On the other hand, Delhi’s team has done well this season overall and finished at No. 1 in the points table after the league matches, but Delhi have missed out on a chance to make it to the finals. They had to face defeat by 4 wickets in Qualifier 1 against Chennai Super Kings.
Both the teams are struggling with the problem of their respective star all-rounders. Bowling has been the biggest strength of KKR but Kolkata’s Andre Russell is still in recovery mode. Although he has started batting in the nets, if he is not fit, then Shakib Al Hasan is believed to be playing in this match as well. Shakib can prove to be very useful on the slow pitch of Sharjah.
At the same time, the picture is also not clear about Delhi’s all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Rishabh Pant had said that he would be fit for Qualifier 1. It didn’t happen. Now it has to be seen whether he can play in Qualifier-2 or not. If Stoinis is fit, he will replace Tom Curran in the playing 11.
At Sharjah Cricket Stadium both the teams will give their best today to reach the final of the tournament.
