Ranchi, Feb.22: Governor-cum-Chancellor of Jharkhand State Universities Ramesh Bais, while reviewing the academic and administrative activities at Raj Bhawan ordered for the immediate appointment of officers in the Universities.

“Problems are still there in the universities. Higher and Technical Education Department, Personnel Department, Jharkhand Public Service Commission will have to expedite their work. Jharkhand Public Service Commission needs to speed up the recruitment process. There should also be financial resources in the interest of the students,” the governor said.

Governor Bais said that he was not satisfied with the progress made in the universities in these three months. “Assurance will not work. Everyone will have to work with commitment in the interest of the students. Work seriously on the matters and issues discussed today. Just giving assurances will not work. I want results, I am saying this very seriously,” he said.

The Governor, while reviewing the Chancellor’s portal, said that the colleges should cooperate in this and make it effective.

“Universities should prepare for the next academic session soon. Examinations should be conducted on time in the universities and the results of the examinations should be released so that the academic session does not become a hindrance in appearing in any competitive examination. If the convocation is not organized on time by the universities then the university degree should be sent to students’ homes. Students should not face any problem due to delay in convocation,” he said

While discussing digitization in all educational institutions, he said that all educational institutions should be equipped with Wi-Fi. The Governor also raised the issue of the standard of research in the university.

On improvement of financial administration, he said that the work of financial audit should be completed in all the universities. He also inquired about the updated status of the Open University in the state.

The governor asked the state universities to do social work and directed vice-chancellors to send the information of all the programmes being organized on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence to Raj Bhavan.

While discussing with all the universities about the new education policy, he said that workshops, seminars should be organized in this context. He inquired about the work of the Jharkhand Higher Education Council.
