Israel Launches More Missiles at Iran, Defying Trump’s Ceasefire Plan

New Delhi: Just minutes after US President Donald Trump assured that a ceasefire was in effect between Israel and Iran, explosions were reported in northern Iran as Israel launched fresh missile strikes. Trump’s declaration that Israel would not attack and would instead perform a symbolic “friendly plane wave” has now been contradicted by renewed military activity on both sides.

Trump’s Ceasefire Pitch Undermined by Israeli Action

Speaking from the White House, President Trump said he was “really unhappy” with Israel for breaching the ceasefire agreement, acknowledging that both Israel and Iran violated the terms. “I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal,” Trump said, expressing disappointment while still attempting to downplay the severity. On his Truth Social platform, he claimed, “Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect,” while oddly describing the Israeli jets’ movement as a “friendly plane wave.”

Iran Prepares for Continuity, Despite Attacks on Nuclear Facilities

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization chief Mohammad Eslami confirmed that emergency protocols were initiated after US and Israeli strikes targeted critical nuclear sites. “Plans for restarting (the facilities) have been prepared in advance,” Eslami stated, vowing that Iran’s nuclear program would not be derailed. Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi signaled openness to peace, saying Tehran would stop its attacks if Israel reciprocated.

Renewed Escalation Threatens Fragile Peace

Despite these diplomatic overtures, tensions escalated again as sirens blared in northern Israel, followed by explosions. Israeli forces accused Iran of firing missiles into its airspace, two of which were intercepted. This renewed flare-up casts doubt over the durability of the ceasefire, with both nations seemingly unwilling to back down completely.
