New Delhi, Dec 9: The anticipatory bail request made by former police and intelligence bureau officers RB Sreekumar, PS Jayaprakash, Thampi S Durga Dutt, and Vijayan will be heard by the Kerala High Court today.

They are accused of plotting to frame former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan in a 1994 espionage case.

The anticipatory bail pleas are being heard before the Kerala High Court for the second time.

They had received anticipatory bail from the High Court in 2021, but the Supreme Court this week overturned that decision and sent the case to the High Court for further consideration.

The apex court further stated that the criminal complaint should not have been filed late because it was done so only after the top court ordered it in 2021.

The four accused were, however, given protection from arrest for a period of five weeks.

When the matter came before Justice Viju Abraham today, the judge stated that since Criminal Miscellaneous pleas had been filed by the same people, the Chief Justice should be consulted in order to determine which judge has the authority to hear all of the pleas concurrently.

If the Chief Justice assigns it back to him, Justice Abraham said he would convene a special sitting on coming Saturday to consider the pleas in detail.
