Jamshedpur, July 25: Indian Steel & Wire Products (ISWP), a subsidiary of Tata Steel, is planning an expansion of its capacity in Jamshedpur.

The proposed project entails the expansion of its existing rebars and wire rods capacity at the Wire Rod Mill and the strengthening of HC & MS GI Wires and wire products at the Wire Mill, both geared towards catering to the increasing market demands.

As a subsidiary of Tata Steel, ISWP inherits the legacy of excellence and commitment to sustainable growth.

The primary focus of this expansion is to increase the rebars and wire rods capacity from 2,67,000 TPA (Tonnes Per Annum) to 4,75,200 TPA through debottlenecking and process optimization.

Simultaneously, ISWP aims to enhance the HC & MS GI Wires capacity from 62,050 TPA to 2,37,600 TPA through state-of-the-art machines within the existing premise, located at Jamshedpur.

ISWP`S commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability takes centre stage in this endeavour.

By usage of water recycling plant, low-noise machinery, and state-of-the-art pollution control equipment, the company aims to achieve environment friendly operations.

The Indian Steel and Wire Products (ISWP) is the first wire drawing plant of the country. A subsidiary of Tata Steel, ISWP became a part of Tata Steel in 2003 and is committed to the highest standards of quality and service.

The Wire Rod Mill and Wire Mill act as the conversion agents of Tata Steel and Tata Steel Global Wires respectively, wherein the parent plant supplies the raw material and also markets the finished good. ISWP is also a proud pioneer in the rolls industry.

Rolls and Casting products are marketed under the brand name ‘JEMCO’. The electrodes and nails divisions, under the umbrella of the brand name ‘SPARK’, also form an integral part of the company’s business venture.

The company was earlier declared a sick unit under Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR)  in 1998 and the operations of the wire mill was closed from 1998 to 2003. In 2003, Tata Steel took over and revived the company.
