New Delhi, April 18: At least 23 persons from both communities have been arrested so far in connection with the Jahangirpuri violence, according to Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, who also stated that those involved will not be spared regardless of class, creed, or religion.
“The case will be probed from all angles and we will ensure that anyone who participated in the violence, whether directly or indirectly, is brought to the book,” said Delhi Police Commissioner in a media briefing.
Attempts to hoist saffron flags at a nearby mosque in Jahangirpuri during the Hanuman Jayanti parade were also denied by the Delhi police chief. He told in a press conference that certain people were spreading rumours on social media to keep the situation tense, and he urged people to disregard them.
He said the investigation into the Saturday fights had been handed over to the Crime Branch, which had formed 14 teams to carry it out, and that four forensics teams had also visited the scene to gather evidence.
