Kyrgyzstan, Oct 11: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar concluded his 2-day visit to Kyrgyzstan. He held a wide range of talks with Kyrgyzstan Foreign Minister, Ruslan Kazakbaev. Among the talks, the situation of Afghanistan and the implications for peace and the security of the region took the center stage.
In a statement, Jaishankar said that ‘India is watching the Afghan development very carefully. It is a matter of concern for all in the region. Any long-drawn chaos in Afghanistan will hurt all the countries in the region.”
Apart from this, a greater emphasis was laid on the promotion and preservation of cultural links between both countries. This was agreed by both the foreign ministers. As per a joint statement, various events like cultural shows, photo exhibition, yoga day, will be organized to celebrate the current year(2021-22) of Cultural exchange between both countries.
Both leaders have agreed to explore new avenues for joint development in the fields of jewellery design, pharma, medicines, eco- tourism, data banks. Development cooperation has gradually emerged as a very important pillar of cooperation.
“New Delhi is also supporting the establishment of three more telemedicine centers. They are in Jalalabad, Chui and Batken regions of Kyrgyzstan. India has also agreed to pay USD 200 million as line of credit support to Kyrgyzstan for its development projects”, said the External Affairs Minister.
