Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party chief Bhim Singh passes away at 80

New Delhi, May 31: Professor Bhim Singh, the founder of the Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party (JKPP), passes away in a Jammu hospital on Tuesday. He was 81 years old when he died.

“He was unwell for more than a year and passed away at a hospital in Jammu. He is survived by his wife and son. The latter lives in London,” said family sources.

A wide range of people, including politicians, social workers, and businesspeople, have expressed their sorrow at his loss.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences on Singh’s death, saying that he would be remembered as a grassroots leader who dedicated his life to the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir.

“He was very well-read and scholarly. I will always recall my interactions with him. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters,” he wrote on Twitter.

Singh was a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and a former Member of Parliament. He was a member of the Congress before creating the National Panthers Party, serving as Vice President of the India Youth Congress from 1977 to 1978.
