Dhanbad, Jan 16: The BIT Sindri Alumni Association Jamshedpur chapter has selected seven girl techies of the institution for the scholarship.
Notably, among the seven selected girl engineering students of BIT Sindri, six are from the 2022 batch and one student is from the 2021 batch. Jamshedpur chapter of BIT Alumni Association would provide them Rs 25,000 as a scholarship for one year.
“The performance of the selected girl students would be reviewed after one year. If performance is found encouraging, the association would not only continue providing scholarships for next year but also increase the amount,” said Pawan Kumar Ojha, the joint secretary of the Jamshedpur chapter of the association.

The girl engineering students who have been selected for the scholarship are – Sangita 2021 batch students of chemical engineering and 1989 batch alumni Pawan Ojha of electronic and communication engineering will provide her scholarship. The 2022 batch student Anshika of the metallurgy department and 1984 batch alumni Amit Roy (metallurgy) will provide her scholarship.
Moreover, 2022 batch Dona Bhattacharjee (chemical engineering) and 1985 batch alumni Atul Roy (mechanical) will sponsor her. Similarly, the 2022 batch student of the production and industrial department Mridula Khushi has been selected by 1984-1988 batch alumni SS Raman for the scholarship.
The 2022 batch electrical engineering student Pushpam Jha will be sponsored by the 1970 batch alumni (metallurgy) Rajat Verma. The 2022 electrical engineering student Riya Kumari has been selected by 1987 batch alumni Shashi Bhushan Prasad ( computer science).
Furthermore, Harshita Kashyap, a civil engineering student of the 2022 batch, has been picked up by the 1977 batch alumni Ravi Todi (production and industrial) for a scholarship.
“We have launched the project under the ambitious national programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. Our main aim is to fulfil dreams of weaker section girls of becoming successful engineers and to move ahead in their career,” said Pawan Ojha.
Ojha, a 1989 batch student of BIT said that the Jamshedpur chapter president Atul Roy has an ambitious plan to make this project a movement for uplifting weaker section engineering girl students.
The coordinator of the programme Pawan Ojha first initiated the project at the self-level with two students and now the Jamshedpur chapter has adopted it.
BIT director Dr DK Singh and Career Development Centre chairman Prof Ghanshyam, who lined up with alumnus, highly appreciated the move of the Jamshedpur chapter of BIT Sindri Alumni Association and requested all alumni of the institution to join in this campaign for the upliftment of girl engineering students with providing scholarship.
