Jamshedpur, Jan 14: Congress leader Mohammad Sabir was grievously injured as a gang of five-six criminals launched an armed attack on him at Zakirnagar under Azad Nagar thana area in Mango late last night.

The 45-year-old was rushed to Tata Main Hospital, but as his condition was very serious, the family members shifted him to a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning.

The victim has sustained more than one bullet injury, including one in the chest in the attack which took place at Zakirnagar Road No 10 around 10 pm when he was returning home from a local club.

According to police, Chhota Baccha and Danish Sadab, two local goons, were allegedly involved along with others in the attack.

Significantly, the armed attack took place on Sabir within hours after he had taken an assault victim, Mohammad Sajjad, to the office of senior SP, Prabhat Kumar on Friday morning for lodging a complaint against Chhota Baccha and members of his gang.

Chhota Baccha who has become a terror in Azad Nagar and the rest part of the Mango area had assaulted Sajjad at Bawangora Chowk in Azad Nagar on Thursday night while he was returning back home riding his autorickshaw.

Police suspect Chhota Baccha might have avenged his by launching the armed attack on Sabir for helping Sajjad.

Moreover, OC, Azad Nagar thana, and Naresh Prasad Sinha said they are trying to find out those involved in the armed attack on the Congress leader.

“Mohammad Sabir was this morning taken to a Calcutta-based hospital from Tata Main Hospital as his condition was very serious,” informed the OC while talking to lagatar24.com.
