Jamshedpur, March 15: The decomposed body of a 23-year-old eunuch was found in a bush near Sidhu-Kanhu Basti under the Burma Mines thana area on Tuesday.
Identified as Sapna, the eunuch was missing since March 11 evening when the fellow eunuchs had seen her with her husband Dhiraj Nayak in Burma Mines for the last time.
Dhiraj Nayak, who is a resident of Sidhu-Kanhu Basti, has also gone missing since then, arousing suspicion on him behind the death of the eunuch.
Police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.
After Sapna’s decomposed body was found in the bush this morning, about two dozen eunuchs gathered at the Burma mines thana and demonstrated there demanding arrest of Dhiraj Nayak as they suspect him to have murdered the eunuch and fled the area.
The OC of Burma mines thana Raju confirmed the recovery of a eunuch’s body and said it to be a case of murder.
“The spot where the body was found is an isolated place and hardly anybody goes there. From the preliminary investigation it appears that someone might have murdered Sapna and dumped the body in that isolated place,” said Raju.
The Burma mines thana OC pointed out as the husband of the deceased is missing, the police suspect his hand behind the murder.
Raju said they are trying to trace Dhiraj Nayak by conducting raids at every possible place.
According to the police, the deceased was originally a resident of the Bhagalpur district of Bihar and stayed with Dhiraj Nayak for the past one week after staying separately earlier.
One of the eunuchs said that on the evening of March 11, both Sapna and Dhiraj were seen at a liquor shop while boozing together. The eunuch and her husband had disappeared since then.
