Jamshedpur, Sept 7: “Education is the only way for making progress in society and we should encourage our children by giving them the proper direction,” XLRI’s dean (Academic) Sanjay Patra observed this while addressing a gathering during a function organised on the occasion of Teachers Day celebration at the Utkal Association in Sakchi.
During the occasion, a large number of dignitaries especially in the field of education were present and several among them were felicitated by the association for their contributions to the society.
Prominent among those who were accorded the felicitation include the B-school dean Sanjay Patra, XLRI professor Sunil Sarangi, Baalkrishna Behera, Abani Dutta, Manjulata Samantaray, Swarna Mishra, Dr Sanjay Giri and Dr Manoj Mohapatra.
Most of those felicitated were heads of the schools and colleges, including the Odiya schools in and around the city. The function was presided over by the Utkal Association’s president Dr Sridhar Pradhan and conducted by the association’s vice-president Badal Bhuiya.
While speaking on the occasion, the association’s trustee and senior advocate Manoranjan Dash talked about the upcoming Utkal Association English Medium School on the premises of the association.
“Like the former President, Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan had given his valuable contribution by making the education as the base, we will also try to emulate his step as inspiration for development of the Utkal Association English Medium School. We will see the upcoming English school find its place among the top schools in the city, ” observed Advocate Manoranjan Dash in his speech.
Dr Sridhar Pradhan, who also spoke on the occasion, advocated for a brilliant future of the Utkal Association English Medium School and expressed his hope that the new institution will emerge as a centre of education, arts, cultural and sporting activities.
