Jamshedpur, March 21: Acting on a tip-off, police raided a place in Sarjamda under the city suburbs Parsudih thana area and seized four trucks-load of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) on Tuesday.

While carrying out the raid, the police succeeded to nab a man from the spot when the main accused managed to escape.

SP (City) K Vijay Shankar said that the total number of cartons seized was 500, suggesting that there were approximately 6,000 bottles of contraband liquor.

“We are investigating whether the seized liquor consignment was transported from somewhere else or was manufactured in Sarjamda itself. The arrested person identified as Piyush Kumar is being interrogated,” said the SP (City) while talking to lagatar24.com.

Vijay Shankar further stated that as the matter is technically related to the Jharkhand Excise department, they handed over seized liquor to the department. According to the senior police officer, the IMFL consignment seized in such a huge quantity contains the stuff having popular brands, but the arrested person failed to show any document pertaining to the stock.
