Jamshedpur, June 28: A goldsmith who used to work as an ornament-maker at a jewellery shop in Sakchi has fled with gold worth Rs nine lakhs.
What is worse, when the jeweller reached to the goldsmith’s family searching for him, the family members threatened the victim to implicate him in a suicide case.
As a result of the situation, the hapless jeweller Pramod Kumar Bera has approached the Sakchi police for redressal of the problem.
Bera who has a small jewellery shop at Handi Line in Sakchi market used to manufacture gold ornaments for the big jewellery shops by taking gold from his clients.
By making ornaments for the big jewellery shops, Bera would get Rs 5,000 for 100 grams of ornaments and he would get the jobs done with his staff Dinesh Kumar.
According to the victim, Dinesh had on Saturday taken 194 grams of gold for making ornaments, but he did not turn up at the shop since then. Having made abortive attempts to contact him over the cell phone, when the victim reached Dinesh’s residence at Jugsalai, the latter’s family members asked him to go back and intimated to get implicated him in a suicide case if he tries to contact Dinesh once again.
Then only the victim approached the police to get back 194 grams of gold worth Rs nine lakhs.
OC, Sakchi thana, Sanjay Kumar Singh said he is aware of the matter, adding that he is yet to get a formal complaint in this regard.
