Jamshedpur: Institution of Engineers to organise National Creativity Olympiad this weekend

Jamshedpur, Nov 24: The Institution of Engineers will organise the 19th edition National Creativity Olympiad on November 26 on its premises in Sakchi.

The olympiad organised after two years will witness students from more than 20 schools who shall showcase their design and scientific skills on this platform. The olympiad is being organised to promote creativity and innovation among young minds. Participation will also encourage students by recognise their skills in the field of science and technology. The details of the olympiad were shared at a press meet on Thursday.

“The olympiad encompasses all the areas of applied sciences in the competition. physics, mathematics, general knowledge, arts and crafts skills. The olympiad is a test for them and the range includes everything- from written tests to practical model building that would require them to innovate, teamwork and practical craft skills,” said the chairman of the Institution of Engineers, India (Jamshedpur chapter) Probal Ghosh.

The two categories of the olympiad- direct domain based on the theme of ‘exploiting fluid power for a green Earth’ will be for outstation teams.’ The open domain with city-based schools will be based on the theme ‘Only One Earth’ with a focus on the area of living sustainably in harmony with nature.’ Student teams from the participating schools will be required to bring working models on the assigned theme. This year 16 outstation teams and five city teams will be participating in the olympiad. The outstation teams will be from Bhubaneshwar, Tirupati, Bokaro, Ranchi, Durgapur, Chaibasa and many more.

The olympiad is supported by Tata Steel Ltd, Tinplate Company of India Ltd, Linde India Ltd, Tata Steel UISL, Jamipol Ltd, Tata Power, ISWP, JCAPCPL, India Eco Lab, Tata Pigments, CSIR-NML and CSIR-Jigyasa.
