Jamshedpur, Sept 28: Areas serviced by Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) can look forward to a dazzling Durga Puja this year.

The Singhbhum supply area of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL), the power conglomerate’s transmission wing, would start an electrician-on-call service in its command areas for the five festive days, beginning Mahasashthi on Saturday ( October 1).

JBVNL officials said 24-hour control rooms would be set up in Adityapur and Karandih. “These will be in operation till the immersion day. We wish to minimise chances of power failure,” said an official.

The electrician-on-call will be offered by all four power subdivisions of Jamshedpur — Karandih, Jugsalai, Govindpur and Mango. The service will also be available for JBVNL command areas in Adityapur in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

The senior JBVNL official said anyone seeking help to fix a snag could either call the control room or the SDOs and junior engineers of their respective areas.

An electrician (or lineman) will be rushed to the spot without delay. JBVNL will also deploy staff near some of the crowd-magnet pandals.

JBVNL has also made public the cell numbers of its officials at the circle and subdivisional levels for the convenience of subscribers. It has prepared a list of areas where senior officials will constantly monitor the power supply.

Local JBVNL authorities have also written to the state load despatch centre (SLDC) in Ranchi, which feeds power to the two grid substations in Gamharia and Golmuri, and asked it to ensure a steady supply during the five festive days.

While the Gamharia substation supplies power to Adityapur industrial area’s around 900 small-, medium- and large-scale units, the Golmuri one takes care of the remaining areas serviced by JBVNL.

Recently, the JBVNL  carried out area- wise maintenance under its command and replaced all defunct transformers, conductors and cables.

Officials said additional transformers would be kept on standby to take care of emergencies.

The local district administration of  East Singhbhum is also taking necessary measures for ensuring a hassle-free Puja.
