Jamshedpur, Jan 6: Unidentified miscreants set two vehicles, including a car in and around the steel city on Friday.
The first incident of arson occurred at Sarvodya Path under Ulidih thana area in Mango at the small hours today whereas the second incident took place at Sunsunia railway level-crossing in Chakulia in the Ghatsila sub-division on Friday afternoon.
At Chakulia, the miscreants set up a motorcycle belonging to Section Engineer Saumitra Pall while the victim was busy carrying out his field duty at about 3.30 pm.
According to police, Pall who is posted at the Jhargram station had got a complaint of cable fault somewhere between Kokpara and Chakulia stations.
“Having got the complaint, the Section Engineer swung into action with a team of his department and went over to Sunsunia railway level-crossing where he parked his two-wheeler before going to find out the cable fault. But on returning back he found his bike lying charred. Someone had set the bike on fire, ” said ASI of Chakulia thana, Gopal Pandey while talking to lagatar24.com.
The ASI said they are trying to detect the miscreants involved in the arson having received a complaint from the victim.
In the earlier incident, Dhananjay Pandey who is a resident of Sarvodya Path had parked his car in front of his house in the night, but at about 2 am today the neighbours awakened him from his deep slumber to inform him that his car was ablaze.
In this case, Pandey along with his neighbours had tried to douse the flame, but the car was gutted completely in front of his eyes.
The Ulidih thana OC said it to be a mischievous act by any unidentified person, but as there was no CCTV camera installed nearby, they cannot detect the miscreant immediately.
The police officer said they are trying to find out the miscreant involved in the arson.
