Jamshedpur, Oct 4: National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), a leading Jamshedpur based CSIR laboratory today celebrated its 82nd CSIR Foundation Day.
The chief guest of the programme was Nirbhik Banerjee, Executive Director, RDCIS, SAIL, Ranchi.
N.C. Murmu, director, CSIR-NML and Aditya Mainak, administrative officer, CSIR-NML were present on the dais.
The function started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. N.C. Murmu, director, NML welcomed dignitaries, NML retirees, scientists and other invitees.
The chief guest, Nirvik Banerjee gave away the CSIR Foundation Day lecture on “Challenges towards de-carbonisation of Indian Steel Industry”.
On the occasion of CSIR Foundation Day, essay and quiz competitions for employees were also organized.
Nirvik Banerjee gave away the awards for essay and quiz competitions, meritorious students awards for NML wards. CSIR-NML Employees who have completed 25 years in CSIR and employees who have superannuated between September 30, 2022 and August 31, 2023, were felicitated on the occasion.
On the day of the CSIR-Foundation Day celebration, CSIR-NML signed an agreement with RDCIS, SAIL on “Development of Zn-Al-Mg Based Hot Dip Coating for Steel Strips”.
Two CSIR-NML technologies were transferred on this special day.
The technology “Zincometer: A sensing device for Real-time Zinc coating weight measurement of steel wires in Galvanised line” was transferred to a Ghamaria-based MSME M/S Refosteel Instruments.
